actuellement la lecture

that, my friends, supposedly means currently reading in french according to FreeTranslation.com.

This book is wonderful, full of stories and patrons I can relate too. Including the old people who you just want to leave you alone.

I won this book from a contest a while back and I still haven't been able to read it. Jen read it and loved it. So it's next on my list.

Another book that I won. I love Meg Cabot's books and I've had this one since about May and I still haven't start it yet!

Rereading this. I just finished the first two again and finished the ninth one and felt the need to reread them so I can be prepared to watch this:

I wanted to watch it when I was in England since I have no idea when it will come out in the US, but I didn't get a chance. *Fingers crossed* Hope it comes out soon!

i left my heart in Paris...(or at least my credit card)

well, at a store that carried stuff like this:
all photos courtesy of Sugar Pine Beauty

nail clippers

cheese graters

hair brush

Two of the ladies I went with picked up the nail clippers--so cute. But since I didn't want to check my luggage, I passed. But I may pick up that cheese grater for my soon-to-be house (eleven and half months!) because i lobes it.

pink is my signature color.

not really, of course...I just really really like it and wanted to try using a blogger template. not a whole to update on. school has started. papers were already due, i hate my creative writing class, and i'm so so ready to graduate, it's ridiculous. it's about one am in the morning and i should be going to bed. so i'm out.

pandora, teen idol, and breaking dawn

what a great title--a list. seriously need to work on my creative bits.

i was thinking about my blog last night and decided i don't really like blogging about my wedding. i enjoy reading weddingbee, and i'm subscribed to quite a few wedding blogs, but when it comes to my own i'm not a big fan of writing it down. so don't expect a lot of wedding details to appear on my blog. guess there goes my chance at becoming a bee :P

listening to pandora radio. this website rocks! being able to type in a song and finding more like it is awesome--a great way to hear new artists and find some songs i really enjoy.
speaking of audio, i'm downloading the audio version of meg cabot's teen idol because it is amazing!

elizabeth moss does the voice for it, and she's just awesome at it. an audio book's popularity really does depend on the voice. jasper fforde's the eyre affair also is good, but i've heard quite a few which just don't cut it. meg cabot's jinx, for example, just wasn't good.
not sure why i'm rambling on about it.

finished stephenie meyers's breaking dawn. and to tell you the truth--i though it was kinda blah. i actually liked the neat little package that the story ends with--just wished it didn't drag so.

my roomie jenny finished it too...i think she enjoyed it me than me, but did agree that the story dragged. Found this article about the book. it makes a good point about the endings to both the harry potter series and the twilight series.

have blog, will write

two topics of discussion today folks: the wedding and europe.

numbero uno, my wedding.
plans are in works for the setting. will update as soon as i have confirmation.
lydia, grace, jenny, and i went to tulsa in june to check out bridesmaid dresses. this is the style that we chose-- (please picture in black!)

love love love this dress. i want one for myself. it looked great on both jen and grace, and lindsay has tried it on and she liked it two (three down, three to go!). i can't wait to see all of my bestest friends in this dress! the saleslady was awesome--i told her the story of grace's wedding and how the dresses we were showed, um, a little more then we liked, and then boom! kayal walked out with this little number. yay!
the wedding is in 11 months--wow! i really need to get down to business--invites, tux, food, etc. etc.

as for europe---i miss it sooooooooo much. espeically london. i can't wait to head there again! jordan and i were talking last night and i brought how dr. jarmola was going to rome for christmas!

ah, how amazing would that be! christmas in italy! it would wonderful and magical.

but quite out of reach.

someday.

only 340 days until I'm married to Jordan! YAY!

engagement pictures will be done next month or in October. i can't wait! i love love love my photographer's work. check her out at here.

just finished my last paper for summer school. real school starts in a week--and it's all screwed up. more on that when i don't want to throw the computer against the wall because it is frustrating me.

will be posting pictures of my trip soon--no work tomorrow so hopefully i can work on that.

i'm backkkkkkkkkkkkk!

Europe was wonderful. I loved loved loved it. London was definitely my favorite place to be---followed by Switzerland and a couple of places we went to in France. Pictures to follow.

Work is calling my name.

it's called lying, kids

So photos did not get uploaded to the computer. I went swimming instead. oh darn.

Grace, Allen, Lyd, Kendra, Steve-O, and Jenny all came over and we swam until the storm came, and then played a rousing game of poker. with no money. thus making it lose most of it's appeal. Then Lydia, Kendra, and the Grosses left and Jordan came over. Then Steve-O and Jordan fell asleep, leaving me and Jen to watch

I heart Sex and the City. The movie was wonderful. I'm going to buy it when it comes out and probably watch nothing else. I lurrrrrrvveeeeee it.

Only seven days until I leave! I'm pumped!

So I've been catching up on one of my favorite bee's personal blogs and really really want to knit something now. Me thinks a trip to Hobby Lobby will be in order soon.

however a recent late night trekking of all my favorite blogs make me want to blog more...a lot more.
and also upload my pictures from my camera!

so tomorrow is a designated "take all your pictures from your memory cards and put them on your computer in order to share them with the world" night

oh boy.

in other news, it's 9 days until i leave for my trip. NINE!

after two weeks in london and paris, i'm off for a week in krakow, poland, and zurich, switzerland. and then back to london!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

more tomorrow. promise.

THE OFFICE has returned! YEAH! not bad I'm in class not watching it. sadness.

I filled out my graduation application today! 2 more semesters and I'm out of here quicker then all get out.

Currently reading

The first two are for class. The Grapes of Wrath was okay the first time I read it, but I can't handle it a second time. I've never read Joyce. And I'm exicted the Gunn has come out with another book.

I sent in my review for Ever-- which did not make it on the website. I won another book to review though. I'm all up for free books.

favorite quotes from televison shows.

despite the fact I should be writing papers about The American Novels, or How Victorian Writers Expressed A Victorian Childhood, I'm looking up my favorite TV quotes.

procrastination is my middle name...

Grey's Anatomy
"McDreamy was doing the McNasty with McHottie? That McBastard."

Gilmore Girls
"People are being particularly stupid today..... .....I can't talk to anymore of them."

The Office (this is hard-- I have many many more)
"Beers. Beets. Battlestar Galactica."

Scrubs (warning--it's long)
"I suppose I could riff a list of things that I care as little about as our last week. Let's see... low carb diets, Michael Moore, the Republican National Convention, Kabbalah & all Kabbalah-related products, Hi-Def TV, the Bush daughters, wireless hotspots, the OC, the UN, recycling, getting Punk'd, Danny Gans, the Latin Grammys, the real Grammys, Jeff that Wiggle that sleeps too darn much, the Yankees payroll, all the red states, all the blue states, every hybrid car, every talk show, everything on the planet, everything in the solar system, everything, everything, everything, everything, everything, everythingj every-everything that exists past present & future, in discovered and undiscovered dimensions! Oh, and Hugh Jackman."

and now i want one-- kinda. as cool as it would be buy a book and have it delivered directly, i think i would miss the feel of having a book in my hands to flip through...

other things in life are going good. wedding planning is going to start picking up soon. i'm in a little bit of sticker shock...so much money. school is almost over. work is good. and the office is still my favorite show.

no day but today

last night whitney, jordan, and i went to see RENT at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. loved it!!! it was amazing--- better then the movie (although i still like the movie. i heart adam pascal.) there was a lot more sexual content in the actually musical then the movie, and at some parts my mouth was dropping opening. beautiful music, though. most the play in sang. i have the music soundtrack, but the original broadway CD has more song--currently bidding on one on ebay!

coming up on my performing arts agenda:

fairy tales

a couple of weeks ago I signed up for a harpercollins profile, which basically just keeps me updated on different authors and such. today i got an email that i had won one of their firstlooks drawings. i'm going to receive one of the advanced reader copies of EVER by Gail Carson Levine, author of Ella Enchanted. While I do like Ella Enchanted (both the book and the movie), I've also read her book Fairest, which I also like, so I'm pretty happy to receive Ever! I like the way Levine takes fairy tales and creates strong female characters. Fairest is somewhat like Snow White, and Ella Enchanted is close to Cinderella. I wonder what fairy tale Ever is modeled after (if any)? I suppose I could look it up but I think I'll keep it a surprise. My guess is Sleeping Beauty.

it doesn't come out until May 6, but you can pre-order it here.

my hope for american lies here

Monday, March 3, 2008

Today was a good day.

most of my friends know i have a slight obsession with weddingbee

it's a wonderful blog.
(we will ignore the fact that i read it almost a year and a half before i was engaged.)
they have some great contest from time to time and
today i won their biggest contest yet.
ladies and gentlemen i give you my new mattress

that's right--it's a vera wang/serta. plus i get her snazzy new book SIGNED.
i did a wonderful happy dance.
and then called jordan. who promptly asked me who vera wang was.
hung up and called me mum. who knew who vera wang was.
it was a good day.

march is women's history month. i'm going to try to come up with a list of women each week who i admire for one reason or another, starting with my favorite women authors, whom i love for their works or personality
  1. Jane Austen- love love love her. currently reading northanger abbey.
  2. Ayn Rand- the fountainhead is one of my favorite books. trying to read atlas shrugged.
  3. Meg Cabot- great author with a great personality. i read her blog a a lot. she's very real and i can relate to a lot of what she writes (minus being a teen pop star, saving the president, and becoming a princess)
  4. Emily Dickinson- one of my favorites poets in the world. read "heart we will forget him". beautiful
  5. Charlotte Gilman- wrote my favorite short story ever, the yellow wallpaper, it's very good. active feminist, with women's mental health in mind.
  6. Maureen Johnson- i have read more than one book by her, but i have mentioned her in my blog before. loving the jk rowling references, hating the fact she was banned in my town's mid-high, on my list of my million books to read at the library
  7. Margaret Mitchell- gone. with. the. wind.
  8. Elizabeth Kostova- awaiting a new novel from her. loved the historian. one of the best books. pausing now to check amazon for new works. please hold.....nothin'
it's one am! i am going to sleep. more lists later.

the news

still no time to blog! grrr!

mac is fixed. lost all files. :(

randomness found on computer while not doing homework:

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

i just don't get it

why people feel the need to tear other down. what's the point? i'm me and you're you and no matter what life for each of us is going to be different.

sometimes i just want to carry a sign around that says 'GET OVER IT'

in other new, my mac died. we're off to the "Genuis Bar" in Tulsa on Friday to try and fix my baby up.

my wonderful roomie is reading a book about courtship which has some of the most silly points about relationships in it...and some good ones. i forgot the title however. more on that later. i wonder if I had gone to a different school if people would still treat relationships the same way they do at OWU.

Oh, and The Office is my new favorite shows.

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

and the spellcheck is broke. please ignore errors.

a month has passed since my last post.

I had started my India post a couple of weeks ago, but I wasn't able to finish, and I don't have much time to write today. But a few quick highlights:
-school has started
-I have a wedding blog: rileywhitsonwedding.blogspot.com
-my car is slowly breaking down

Peace out until later
